Parenting perfection

Today was not one of my better parenting days.  Neither Lucy nor I slept much the night before, Nana and Papa left this morning after a wonderfully helpful month-long visit, Justin was in Managua, and Lucy picked today to skip her nap.  Oh and I’m 8 months pregnant.  So when darling daughter decided to play quietly by herself for a few minutes, I relished in the opportunity to put my feet up, check my email, and take a deep breath.

But, you know what they say…Image

and true to her two year old ways…I found this:

Yes, that’s half a tube of Dora the Explorer, Bubble Gum Flavored toothpaste in the sink AND in her hair.  I knew I had a choice here: chastise her and make the day even harder on us both with an inevitable tantrum or accept my own complicity in the situation and roll with it.  So, I did what any (in)sane mother would day –  I laughed, grabbed my camera, and snapped a pic.

Clearly, my laid back attitude about the situation paid off because 5 minutes later, when she said she was going to get a tissue, I found this:Image

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, your day just ends up in the shitter.
